How to view email headers in popular email services

Email headers can tell you when and from whom an email was received and show its path. These elements also include essential information that various services often add to emails.

Analyzing email headers can help you find out the reasons for email delivery delays, discover what caused your email to end up in the spam folder, and solve other issues.

Gmail

Open an email. Click on three vertical dots at the top of the email, and select Show original from the drop-down menu.

The Bat!

Open an email in a new window. Go to the Specials menu, and select View Source.

Mozilla Thunderbird

Open an email. Click on More at the top of the email, and select View Source.

Apple Mail

Open an email. Go to View > Message, and select Raw Source.

Outlook

Open an email. Click on three horizontal dots (More actions) on the top left in the email, and select View Message Source.
